ส่วนการที่หนังตาตกหรือมีหนังตาส่วนเกินอาจทำให้ดู สูงวัยกว่าที่ควร การตัดหนังตาส่วนเกินออกจะทำให้ดูอ่อนเยาว์และสดชื่นขึ้น ซึ่งขั้นตอนส่วนใหญ่มีความคล้ายคลึงการผ่าตัดทำตาสองชั้น
กล้ามเนื้อตาอ่อนแรงนั้นเกิดจากหลายสาเหตุ บางคนเป็นตั้งแต่เกิด บางคนเป็นตอนอายุมากขึ้น มีผลทำให้ลักษณะดูคล้ายคนเหนื่อยเพลีย ง่วงนอน และอาจก่อให้เกิดปัญหาในการมองเห็นได้ การผ่าตัดแก้ไขกล้ามเนื้อตาอ่อนแรงนี้นอกจากจะช่วยเรื่องการมองเห็นแล้วยังช่วยให้ดวงตาดูกลมโตและดูสดใสขึ้น
Asian and Thai people generally have thinner and smaller eyelid layers. Double-eyelid surgery can, therefore, help to improve the appearances of the eyes and make it easier to apply make-up.
In the case of redundant skin or musculature of the upper eyelid, the removal surgery can create a more youthful look.
